One night, you lost it all. 

In this world, there is a power imbalance between elite wizard guilds and everyone else. They can get away with anything they want, but they won't get away with what they've done to you. Craft items, make social decisions, and kill ancient gods (not in this vertical slice) to work your way from the bottom up, increasing your divinity.
